Goodwill of Greater Washington Closes Flagship Arlington Store for New Multi-Purpose Affordable Housing Facility

A modern, multi-story apartment building with a Goodwill store on the ground floor, surrounded by trees, people walking, and cars driving on a sunny day with a blue sky and scattered clouds.

Goodwill of Greater Washington announced that its flagship store at 10 South Glebe Road in Arlington will temporarily close on October 27, 2025, to make way for an innovative redevelopment project. In partnership with Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC), the site will be transformed into a groundbreaking facility combining 128 units of affordable housing with a modernized Goodwill retail store and donation center, plus an onsite childcare facility.

This first-of-its-kind collaboration between Goodwill and AHC creates approximately 30 new jobs while addressing critical barriers to employment: affordable housing and childcare access. Construction begins this winter, with the new retail store opening by late 2027 and residents moving in during 2028.
