AHC Invests in Team to Support Mission and Portfolio Expansion

Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC) is doubling down on its mission to create more affordable housing opportunities across the region. The organization is making strategic investments in its workforce, bringing on new talent to both develop additional communities and better serve existing residents.

New Development Team Takes Shape

Last month, three new Development Managers — Leon Fields, Nathan Mishler, and Jarrid Williams — joined AHC’s Real Estate Development (RE) team. Their experience and commitment to AHC’s mission will help accelerate and expand AHC’s development pipeline.

Mary Claire Davis, Vice President of Real Estate Development, is leading the expansion and now oversees all real estate development operations, regardless of location. With 15 years of experience at AHC, Mary Claire brings her institutional knowledge and strategic vision to guide the team.

Curtis Adams is now Director of Real Estate Development, shepherding projects from initial feasibility studies through financing and construction. AHC is actively recruiting a second director to strengthen the team’s capacity further.

Although the RE team operates out of both Virginia and Maryland, it functions as a unified department. Project assignments are based on each team member’s unique skills and expertise, allowing AHC to deploy talent strategically and maximize impact.

AHC is also actively recruiting for a Vice President of Acquisitions, a new role designed to identify and secure new opportunities to grow AHC’s housing portfolio.

Strengthening Asset Management

As AHC expands its development capacity, it remains deeply committed to its existing communities. The Asset Management team has been further strengthened under the leadership of Sylvia Martin, Vice President of Asset Management. In June, AHC welcomed two new Asset Managers, André Lewis and Yaritza Lorenzo. A new Portfolio Operations Manager and an additional Asset Manager are expected to join in the coming weeks.

Building for the Future

These strategic hires reflect AHC’s thoughtful approach to growth — expanding capacity while maintaining quality. By investing in mission-driven professionals, the organization is positioning itself to create more affordable housing opportunities while ensuring existing communities continue to thrive.
