Amazon has partnered with Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC) for more than five years, first as a donor and volunteer partner and now as an investor in one of AHC’s most ambitious developments. Through the Amazon Housing Equity Fund, the company helped finance the redevelopment at 10 S. Glebe Road in Arlington, where AHC and Goodwill of Greater Washington will create 128 affordable homes, an onsite child care center, and a modernized Goodwill store and donation center on a transit-accessible site. It is the first project in the nation to pair a Goodwill retail location with affordable housing.
“We believe everyone should have access to a home they can afford and that housing is most impactful when paired with services that help residents thrive. We’re proud to partner with Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC) as they celebrate 50 years of impact in the National Capital region. Together with AHC and Goodwill of Greater Washington, we’re helping create affordable homes near transit, jobs, and community resources—so families can set down roots and build toward what comes next.”

Amazon’s commitment goes well beyond financing. Amazon employees show up for AHC residents in person, hosting workshops for teens, helping bring neighbors together at holiday socials, and packing snack bags so students in AHC’s Afterschool program have what they need to focus and learn. At Amazon’s Arlington headquarters, AHC students have explored careers in technology during Girls’ Tech Day. That investment in young people is paying off. This year, College & Career Readiness (CCR) graduate Nehemiah Abraha earned an Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship to attend Carnegie Mellon University.
AHC is proud to welcome Amazon as a 2026 Champion sponsor as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary.
