Amazon has partnered with Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC) for more than five years, first as a donor and volunteer partner and now as an investor in one of AHC’s most ambitious developments. Through the Amazon Housing Equity Fund, the company helped finance the redevelopment at 10 S. Glebe Road in Arlington, where AHC and Goodwill of Greater Washington will create 128 affordable homes, an onsite child care center, and a modernized Goodwill store and donation center on a transit-accessible site. It is the first project in the nation to pair a Goodwill retail location with affordable housing.

Amazon’s support reaches beyond the Housing Equity Fund. Employees have volunteered alongside AHC staff and residents, hosting teen workshops, supporting holiday socials, and assembling snack bags for students in AHC’s Afterschool program. The company has also welcomed AHC students to Girls’ Tech Day at its Arlington headquarters. This year, College & Career Readiness (CCR) graduate Nehemiah Abraha received an Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship to attend Carnegie Mellon University.
